Route Reviewer ("we", "us", or "our") operates routereviewer.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information we collect

We do not require account registration to use Route Reviewer. We collect minimal data necessary to operate the site. This includes standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, time of visit) which are retained for up to 30 days for security and diagnostic purposes.

If you contact us by email, we retain your email address and the content of your message in order to respond to you.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Cloudflare's analytics are privacy-focused and do not use cookies or track individuals across sites. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

Third-party services

Route Reviewer uses the following third-party services which may process data when you use the site:

Mapbox — used to render the virtual trail flyover feature on individual hike pages. Mapbox may collect usage data when the flyover is activated. See Mapbox's privacy policy at mapbox.com/legal/privacy.

Open-Meteo — used to display current weather conditions at trailheads. Your approximate location (trailhead coordinates) is sent to Open-Meteo's API when weather data loads. See open-meteo.com for their privacy practices.

OpenStreetMap — used to render trail maps. Map tile requests are made to OpenStreetMap servers. See openstreetmap.org/copyright for their policy.

Cookies

Route Reviewer does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set a technical cookie for security purposes.

Data sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not run advertising on this site.
